2024 Benefit Choices and Enrollment Guides

WHAT’S NEW FOR 2024

The following changes to medical benefits are effective January 1, 2024:

CHANGES TO MEDICAL BENEFITS FOR PREMEDICARE INDIVIDUALS

The deductible and out-of-pocket limit for the Sandia Total Health PPO Plan will increase.
The HRA administration for BCBSNM and UHC plan participants will transition to PayFlex on Jan. 1, 2024.
The deductible and out-of-pocket limit for the Sandia High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) will increase.
Premiums will increase for both the Total Health PPO Plan and the High Deductible Health Plan.

CHANGES TO MEDICAL BENEFITS FOR MEDICARE INDIVIDUALS

The Sandia-sponsored Kaiser Permanente Group Senior Advantage HMO Plan will be open to new enrollments for a Jan. 1, 2024, effective date (for those living in Northern California).
Premiums will increase for the Sandia Group Medicare Advantage plans.

Why did the 2024 Your Spending Arrangement (YSA) funding remain the same as it was in 2023?

Sandia reviews the Your Spending Arrangement (YSA) funding amounts each year. The benchmark Sandia utilizes is the Consumer Price Index for Urban Areas (CPI-U) for medical care services. Sandia sets the annual increase in YSA funding amounts using 50% of the increase in the CPI-U for Medical care services. Historically, this benchmark has increased year over year which leads to increases in the YSA annual funding amount. The CPI-U for Medicare care services showed a decrease for 2024 this last review; however, Sandia decided to keep the YSA annual funding amounts for 2024 flat instead of reducing the annual funding amounts.

SURVIVING SPOUSES

If you’re a surviving spouse and currently have medical coverage, you can enroll in the Sandia group-sponsored Dental Care Program with Delta Dental of New Mexico. If you waive this coverage, you will not have another opportunity to enroll in this program in the future.
